This tool (edited out)!!!!!. Send it back before you get stuck with another piece of metal. I agree with the suggestion of grinding it into one of stuart's negative rake scrapers....

The problem with these tools is not with the fineness of the cut, I can get angle hair shavings all day, it is with the smoothness of the cut.  I cannot seem to get a smooth cut and no matter what I do I get these little ridges plus I can't seem to get smooth movement across the tool rest.  I give these tools two thumbs waayy down as far as useability goes.

I guess I am not as negative as others, I think it is a decent tool, but for the money, not worth the investment or time.

I did have a chance to use mine yesterday.  Other than in the area that had a crack in it, the tool worked very well.  I did have a problem similar to what Phil has described, where the tool did not want to slide across the tool rest.  But, other than that it worked well.  I also believe that a quick pass or two with a file will take care of that issue.

As I said above, this is a specialty tool.  I will agree with Nappen too, it is probably not worth the money/effort to get.   8)
