Hi to all. I've been reading this site for months and just joined. Turning since 03 on a Grizzly 12 inch. I get lots of wood for free from around home in Virginia and also from Florida where my brother lives. (Hurricanes aren't all bad.) We meet half way and exchange pick-up loads. Just started going to art & craft shows and selling with some success. Won a best in show, hard crafts, at Allentown Art Festival June 2006. (Blowing my own horn) Without knowing it you've all helped me quite a bit.
Thanks
George

I saw that some people in this thread know what member number they are.  I checked my profile and I didn't see mine.  How do I find out what my number is?

You are the fifth member on page 15 of the member list.  There are 14 pages ahead of you, with 35 people on each page.  14X35 = 490 + 5 = 495  You are member 495. Shocked

My name is Travis Northcutt. I am a pastor in Hardinsburg, Ky about two miles north of Rev.Doug.

I have only been turning for about a year and love it already.  I have been in Ky. for 4 years and spent the other 24 years in South Alabama and Mississippi.

I have a Jet Mini, which I bought back in early May. I traded it off for a 1/4 hp Nova Mercury and got the Jet back in Mid-October.

I mainly turn game calls and have recently discovered bowls and goblets.  I welcome all advice and critiques, just be kind. Thanks!

I guess we are going to have to start calling you RevTrav.   Wink

Welcome to the vortex.  With the folks in that area, you should be able to get some good help on turning techniques.

I actually live in Phoenix, but my mail is handled by the Glendale PO.  Glendale is on the west side of Phoenix.

Do the ones in Williams work for THE railroad?

I'm not sure. He has been there less than a year. His last name is Phillips.  The one in Phoenix last name is Huges.

I'm new here so here goes. My name is Brian. I am a Firefighter and a Fire and Explosion Investigator in Texarkana, AR. I have been making game calls for sevearl years. I am just starting to turn other things and I really enjoy it more than making calls. Right now I turn on a Jet 1236, that I am upgrading to a Jet 1642 in a couple of months. So I will be looking for alot of advice from you guys to help me progress with my turnings. One more thing I turned 33 today. Another year older and I feel it too. LOL. Thanks in advance guys, Brian.

Hello, thought I would let everyone know who I am, my name is JR Horsley I live in Stephensport, ky about 10mi north of Bama and Revdoug near the Yellowbank wildlife mang. area. Im the music leader at Friendship baptist church where Bama is the pastor. I have been turning for a few months I blame them for this new addiction. I have a jet mini and am starting to learn to turn bowls and vases. I have found woodturner's resource to be a big help for a new turner. I think its great that such exp. turners are willing to share their knowledge and explain things in a way us new people can understand.thanks  Smiley
