Hi everyone!

Im Rodolfo and am from Orange County, Ca.  I am a student and musician and was turned on to woodworking this past December and am hooked.

Im still learning but love the craft.  Pretty much everything about woodworking interests me. By the way, I really appreciate all of your input and advice.  This is a really great forum for someone new to the craft like myself.

Hi Rodolfo,

And welcome.

Questions are important and are the life-blood of a forum because they stimulate responses and ensure that a person gets safe advice about the topic they raise.  There may be a number of different methods to do a particular task so more experienced turners might discover a better way to do a job or just learn to do something they haven't tried yet.  Furthermore, experienced turners might discover their way of doing a job might not be the safest or most efficient or they might simply get a refresher course on something they haven't tried for a while.  Everyone wins.

One thing you can be sure of is that you will never be put in a situation where you will get hurt because safety is a big issue for most turners.  A lathe is relentless so when things go wrong they happen fast and a lathe won't stop until it is switched off.

As for answering questions - people get a kick out of helping other people.  It's not smug self-righteousness, it's just the pleasure of being able to put back some of the help you have been given and, Lord knows, it will be many years, if ever, before I can ever repay the help I have got here.

So, keep firing the questions and, if you don't get an immediate response it doesn't mean people are fed up answering, it just means the right person to answer you hasn't read the question yet.

Hi, I'm Roger Corder. I'm 39 and live in McCarley MS. I have and addiction...oh sorry I thought this was vortex anonymus.

I work as a power plant operator been doing it for 12 years.

I been doing woodworking since my teens but didn't start woodturning until 6 years ago. I have been lurking in shadows for a while now but since I was the first winner in the raffle I thought I better jump in.

Hi Roger, and welcome.

I hope the new tool gives you as much pleasure to use as the others have got from their various Ci's.
