Katrina is said to be at 175 MPH winds now. I would be be heading for Yankee land if I lived near Nawlins.

You could always head for Utah. I can't remember the last hurricane we had. We're not real big on tornadoes and floods either. They claim we're "due" for an earthquake but I was practicing earthquake drills 45 years ago in elementary school and it hasn't happened yet. The only problems I have is with the low humidity cracking all my bowls.

I suppose that the only good thing about a hurricane is that you can see it comming, and there is plenty of warning.

Or you could end up in Phoenix.  We've only had 3 "hundred year" floods since I moved here 24 years ago.

I wish the best to anyone in the targeted area.

I've wished for years that life would take me to Nawlins for a few years, but right now I'm glad I don't live there.  I understand that all roads now only lead out of the state and that the indigent of NO are to go to the dome to ride out the storm.  We can only hope and pray at this point that everyone will be ok.      8)

All the hotels here are booked solid and there is a steady stream of cars going west into Dallas.  Rooms are in demand.  I pray for anyone left behind.

Just looked at the projected path of Katrina and it looks like Rev, Philip, and all you others in the Kentucky, Indiana area better put some rocks in your pocket and have your bail buckets at hand. About all we can do now is hope and pray for this one to calm down and blow itself out. Hang in there everyone.

We had rough weather here today, but nothing like what is expected in a couple of days.  Looks like as early as Tuesday morning we could see the direct results.   Undecided

The real bad winds should be gone by the time it gets to your backyard, Rev. It may still have plenty of rain though. Watch out for floods.

Hi,
Katrina is now cat 5, with winds of 160mph.

Nappen, was it Elena in 1985?

Lets hope it blows its self out very quickly.

Hey folks, yes, best of luck to the folks in New Orleans (where the storm is churning as I write this at 8:45 CDT).  Seems to be passing between N.O. and Biloxi.  We lived in New Orleans for six years.  Much of the city is below sea level.  When we would take the children "up" to the river to watch the barge tows and ships passing by, we would cross Audubon Park from home, just across the Tulane campus, and would actually walk "up" to the river.  The levee holds it up at that point.  Without that levee, that part of the city would be part of the river.  Strange circumstance.
And Phil, Rev, Keith, Smoky, and all, I hope you can stay dry tomorrow!

I know exactly what you mean. Went to Tulane for 4 years, made the same walk, though often turned left on the other side of the park heading to the fovorite local hole in the wall.

Beautiful part of the city, but floods with a hard sneeze, hope it doesn't wash away.

Hope all here stay dry as well.
