I know there was a thread on this 3 months ago, but the sale prices at   Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register; expired long ago.

Does any one know who has the best price on the Airshield and spare parts? ???  All Pro is up to 250 now, and the next best I found was 260.  I even found one that was showing it on "Special" at $469.95 Shocked with a spare Battery and the Spare Parts Kit, plus shipping, 3 weeks est.  Allpro only adds 90 with the add on.

I think I need to break down and lay out the money for one of these before I have a problem rather than after I have to spend a bunch for medical bills.  Help!

My Trend was purchased here Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register
for $259.95, and it is still that price. These are good folks to deal with!
It is a good piece of safety equipment.
Philip, where did you buy yours?

I got mine from the allpro place when it was on sale.  It didn't come with any spare stuff just the basics.  I definitely need to get a second battery and some new shield overlays, getting hard to see through my mask at this time.

Speaking of batteries, do you guys that are lucky enough to have a second battery use them both at one time or do you keep one on the charger at all times and swap out as one runs down?

Philip I just use one at a time.  I change back and forth as needed.  I also change the overlay often.  If it gets a little scrached up I will change it.  If I took better care of them they would last a little longer.

I got mine at Osolnik also, thanks to Gil's comments in a former thread.  As for the overlays, definitely get a package of those, but when you clean the shield, use a damp cloth so as to minimize the scratching of shield and overlay.
The Trend is an incredibly food piece of equipment.  I certainly breath better at night.

Hey Gil, did you ever get that AC connection thing figured out?

Philip, I use the Trend batteries one at a time, but I do not leave the other battery on the charger after it is recharged, mainly because I am not sure if the Trend charger is able to sence a full charge and taper off. You could build your own three-cell battery. Radio Shack sells the 'male' plug (P/N 274-1569), and Battery Source sells the individual 1.2vdc cells (3ea), and they will even tack on the connector strips for you. The black plastic case would be missing, but duct tape or shrink wrap would fix that.
Jim, I have all the parts, but have not put them together yet. I am being lazy I guess.

Interstate Batteries out here will put together batteries for anything for about half the price of most.  My digital camera battery sells for $90, Interstate $50.

But who has the best price for the Airshield?

Jim, my search turned up no better than yours.  $250 at all pro, the next best is 260 at a few more places.  If you see a special come along, please let us know.  I'm about ready to buy one myself.

Hmmmm.  Maybe we should see if we could get a better price if we ordered several at once.  Anyone else interested?

Hey all I was wondering if any of you all that already have the trend have been having problems with either a. the battery not charging or b.  the battery not working when placed in the shield?  Is there a way to test the battery to see if is charged other than putting it in the shield?  Also, the metal post (I know it has a name but it eludes me right now) that provides the connection to both the charger and the shield is springy and isn't staying on the charging plug, is this normal?

Weird, never had that problem with mine, in fact the more times I charge it, the longer and stronger a charge it seems to hold.

True, Chris, but is seems that they had a battery problem that really amounted to very sloppy workmanship. Maybe they have eliminated the QC problem by now.
Ned and I each had a battery with a bad internal wiring connection, and my other battery had a tiny coiled up piece of wire/metal (?) loose inside the plug (the male plug on the battery) which was shorting out the battery (if I tilted the battery a particular way, the loose piece inside the plug would fall between pos/neg and form a short). All fine now.

My problem ended up being a bad connector on the battery.  I had to basically tear off my balck plastic battery case to get to it but after I replaced the connector with one I found on an old charger I had in a box it worked great.  Trend is now back online  Smiley.

Well, my 2 cents was already said. Got mine at Osolnik and they replaced the defective battery with no questions.

Mine came today.  I ordered it late Friday afternoon from AllPro.  They processed and shipped the order Monday, and UPS ground delivered in less than 48 hours.  Battery is charging so I can try it out tomorrow, with that Purpleheart I've got.  Then the Walnut.

I will probably check with the battery place next week to see if they can duplicate it.

Friday I'm helping to take down 2-3 Osage Orange trees.  Yes I get first dibbs on the wood. 8)

I am sure you will love it Jim.  As soon as I can I am also going to go to a battery store and see if they can make me a new set of them.
I am also jealous about the osage orange trees.

Used the shield today turning some old Walnut.  Loved it until the temps got back over 100 out there.

Anybody with the problem with Airshield batteries not staying plugged into the charger;  Contact Terry Cole with Trend-USA at 270-872-4674.  Just leave him a message and he will call you back.  I just talked to him on the phone again today.  They had a problem with a new battery supplier when they shifted from Ni-Cad's to NiMH.  A lot of defective battery packs may still be out there, and they are trying to make good on them.  Replacement cost will depend on how long you have had the Airshield.  If it is fairly new....Free, like mine.

Hey Turners!

I got my Triton at the Overland Park Symposium from Klingspor this summer for 214.  Best price on any of these types.

This morning I notice the Craft Supply has it as a front page special for 199.

In regard to the battery problem.  If you have a NiMH battery with a light colored label with black lettering, it is one of the defective ones and eligible for replacement.  If it has a black label with light lettering, it is one of the new ones, and they work great.
