New to lathe turning and this Forum so here is a little about me.  Bought my first lathe in june,(Delta Midi) been filling my 10 x 24 shop ever since.  I ran out of space for wood and am building a 3 sided shed lean to this weekend just for wood.  Ordered and should have delivered my first upgrade lathe (Jet 1436) by monday.  This all started when my wife bought the midi lathe for me on Her birthday, "she has been sorry ever since"

Well I am enjoying the Forum and wanted to say hi, enjoy the topics and all the info

Welcome aboard. It only takes about one spin to get you hooked on this turning business. If we're not careful the government is going to make it illegal. Keep storing the wood. You'd be amazed at how fast you can go through it when you go on a turning binge.

Welcome, Yak! (can I call you Yak?).  Four months turning and you're upgrading lathes already, you're spinning quickly into to vortex  Grin

Double coat that applewood with sealer, it will split soon if not processed.

Edit
just re-read the posts, guess I can call you Larry!

Welcome aboard Larry.  Sounds like you are really serious about this fun that we all have in our shops now and then.  We will be happy to share anything that we know, and will be grateful for anything that you have to offer.  Pretty close-knit group this.  Hope you enjoy the forum.

Let me add my welcome.  I think the Midi was the way to start,  not too expensive but a good solid machine, and good backup for the Jet.  I have been going for 3 months on a Midi, and I love it.  I'm not looking to do any thing big so it still fits me.

I assume from your nickname, you are from Washington?  You can add that to your profile at any time.  Click on profile in the grey bar below the bronze bar at the top.

I didn't use endseal right away on the first batch and paid the price, The apple wood sure cracks easily and fast.  I did do a better job the second time.

New lathe Jet 1442, said it wrong in earlier post, came in put it together in under an hour rough turned a bowl this evening will finish the shed tomorrow and then have sunday for turning.

Thanks for all the welcomes, looks like I will be here often.

Larry

Welcome aboard, feel free to ask any turning or non-turning questions. I also find myself using the search feature pretty frequently as well.

You won't find a nicer group.

Junior I have been reading your posts, you seem very, shall I say thrilled.  Take your time, things don't come out quite perfect at first.  My first piece was from a 14" long 4 X 4 ended up a very nice tooth pick.  But came a long way in just a short time.  and was truly addicted shortly after the tooth pick.

Have fun and be safe.
