Heading out for the gulf
Oct 18th, 2005 at 9:25pm

Monday I head back to the gulf coast.  This time we are going to Gulfport, MS.  Got lots of tree and limb cutting to do.  Figure we can at least clear yards and give folks some sense of normalcy.  More trips are wanted and I hope to make at least 2 more before the first of the year.

Keep me in your thoughts and prayers.  I'll be supervising about 15 men and women, most of whom I don't even know.  I believe we'll be find though.  Just hope no one gets hurt.

If a few of you are interested, I might could bring back some chunks of wood and do a fund raiser for it.  What do you think?  Anyone interested in Katrina wood?  You all let me know and I'll see if I can post a few pieces up as raffle pieces.   8)

Take care Rev. I applaud you for all the time and help you give to the Katrina folks. Be careful with that new saw!

10 of each and I like them right where they are.

As for the trailor, I don't have a hitch on the mini-bus.  If I did, they would stop me at the weigh stations because I'd have that (edited out) packed to the brim.  I will have a few pieces on the tail of the bus on the way home though.  Lost the prettiest piece I brought back last time.  Sealed it and everything, but it still checked badly.  Maybe some of the small logs will fair better.  I do know that so far the magnolia that I brought back is doing fine.  Look forward to having some time so that I can dig into that stuff.     8)

Hey Phil,

Have you had a chance to do anything with that piece of Katrina wood I gave you?   8)

Uhh, did you give me a piece?   If you did, sorry I don't remember.  what with all the apple and peach that was in that trailer...   I am not really sure I took any.

You should have had one small oak log in that trailor load.  I would have been the smallest piece you had.  Guess you haven't done anything with it.   8)

Just got back a couple of hours ago.  I do have a nice bit of magnolia in stockpile now.  Also got back with an oak crotch that I split in half down in Gulfport.  We cut so much wood that is only going to be either buried or chipped into mulch.  I split this crotch just to make it lighter.  When it opened, I couldn't believe my eyes.  I'll have to get them sealed tomorrow so that they done split to pieces.  Wish me luck.   8)
