Cousin came by yesterday, he wanted a couple of handles made for for his tools, showed him how to do it.
Long story short, he bought my Delta Mini I had on a shelf.

Infecting others one person at a time Grin

Speaking of turning: I recently ran across an interesting bit of infomation. In the Near East lathes were used to turn limestone cups & bowls perhaps as early as the 2nd century BCE.

Hey Rev., Jesus being a carpenter perhaps He was a wood turner as well. Whadaya think? It's known that lathes were in use at that time.

You can never tell.  I just wish we had more information on what he did and how he did it.  An aweful lot of speculation out there.  Heard one time that the word carpenter in the Bible is code for stone masson.  I personally find that hard to believe.  Of course Paul, who was a tent maker, is said to be a stone masson as well.  Now, how can two very different terms mean the same thing?  I don't think so.  Like I said, just wish we had more reliable information.

And if he did turn, I bet he turned bowls.   8)

Maybe they meant Free Masons and he and Paul were actually the original members of the Illuminati...  Tongue

The Illuminati as most people know them (Bavarian Illuminati) were founded in 1776.  Smiley  Though, there are various references to groups/societies throughout history as there are even references of the term in the 14th century.

I take the mysteries very seriously.  There is so much speculation about this thing and that thing, but those who are dedicated to the path cannot speak of them to the common person.

Darkside hehe... isn't that what the australians call woodworkers who don't use power tools?

Good Morning, not sure this is the right way to go about it but here goes.

We are the Susquehanna Woodturners of Harrisburg,PA and we are looking for a light weight "smock" with pockets in back and vents under arms.  (Craft Supplies is too heavy and comes with their logo which we do not want).  Would like short sleve and dark green in color prefered.  We want a zip up front with a velcro collar.  Please reply to jgeiger43@prodigy.net if you have any suggestions.

Thanks

Welcome to our little board.  As to your question, I'll get to that.  But first I have to ask, what is a "Susquehanna" ?

About the smock you are looking for, would a turning apron work?  I have one that could be duplicated by one of our members here.  It does have one pocked on the front that is for a pencil or two and has a flap to cover it, keeping out saw dust.  There is a tie at the waste.  Collar is velcro and elastic.  I find it very comfortable and being that it going to be made, you should be able to get any color you wish it to be.

Let me know if it sounds like something you can use.  I know it's not a short sleeve smock like you were asking for, but after getting mine and using it for a while, I'm glad I didn't get the smock that I was after.

Pics can be aranged.   8)

Rev, is that apron similar to the one Bill G. uses on his video? I'm assuming you have seen Bill G.'s video?

YES to both.  It is just like his that he wears on the video.  I got mine from a guy who has them made in TX.  There is one of our own who might be talked into making some as a side job.  I bet she can get us a good deal on them too, especially if we send brownies.   8)
