DIY Bobbin Sander

Does anyone know where I can find DIY instructions for constructing a bobbin sander please? I wish to use a motor from a bandsaw no longer in use.

Glad to have you aboard, rha.  Not sure what you mean by a bobbin sander.  Could you give us more information?  Maybe a link where we might see one?   8)

The one pictured and described in the link looks a lot like what I know as an " Oscillating Spindle Sander".

yup, definately a spindle sander. I like the tilting table, mine doesn't do that. Don't use it very often since I started turning.

rha's diagram showed, indeed, a spindle sander.  He is rigging up a home made one.  Should work well.

It's called a bobbin sander 'cause the sanding cylinder is 'bobbin' up and down  Grin Grin Grin

Followed RevDoug's advice - Bobbin Sander working well. I only know it as a Bobbin Sander - maybe it's because I'm an Aussie. Roll Eyes
Thanks for all the interest.

That may be true, rha. When I was searching for them I recall the Aussie and UK sites called it a bobbin sander, and the USA sites called it a spindle sander.
