Restrain yourself laddie the urge will pass.  And if it don't, oh well, make something and get back to turning.

Make 4 presicely square pieces to use for an inside out turning.  That ought to do it.   8)

Glue a bunch of flat stuff together and make a segmented turning.

Remember, they once thought the world was flat and then the enlightend men learned to make it round.

Go outside, turn around three times, scream like a girl, then spit. After that come inside and drink a beer. That should take care of it! Grin If after that you still feel like doing flatwork, go into the shop and whack your thumb w/a framing hammer until the urge passes!

Or cut a piece totally square, then mount it on the lathe and turn a square edged bowl.  First time one of the wings knocks your knuckles, you'll not want to do flat work or anything with corners again.  Smiley  (Also acts as a substitute for Tom's hammer idea)

Oh I get it! Your going to take the motor out of the saw and install it on your lathe and use the saw as a workbench! It all makes sense now!

Obviously, going outside, turning around three times, screaming like a girl, spitting and then drinking a beer did not help. Now go hit your thumb with a hammer until you get this foolishness out of your system! Grin

I have also heard that if you swing a dead squirrel around your head under a full moon while dipping your thumb in spunk-water would get this out of your system too. Or was that grandma's cure for warts.......? Smiley

12/4 exotics and a 1.5hp contractors saw just won't work. It comes down to turning pays the shop bills but I love flat stuff. I bought my "last" bandsaw (Rikon 18") this year, my big General lathe should do me fine, so this should be my "Last" tablesaw. I hope to "retire" into my own woodworking business in a few or so years.
