sealing green wood

I am ready to get some green wood but I don't have any anchor seal or anyplace to get it whith in a 3 hour drive.  Can other sealer be used such as sealer for decks, sanding sealer?

In a pinch I've heard that latex paint, multiple coats will hold the moisture in for a while.  Or wax, if you can melt a bunch and apply it evenly, although this is bit more tricky.

My first attempt at sealing green wood was by melting paraffin wax (Gulf Wax, as in jelly jar sealing). Then I dipped the ends of the logs into the liquid wax. Works fine.
You can order 5 gallons of Anchorseal on line for around $51. including shipping. They will also send you a free quart to try out if you email or call them and ask.
Look at the bottom of this page, "Try It Before You Buy It".

The paraffin wax is cheap and works well. Be safe and use a double boiler if you go that route. Add some food color to the wax for visibility.

I used some concrete sealer and have had not one problem. I think it is because it penatrates rather far. some times when I turn a piece with the sealer even after I have trued it I can still find some spots where the sealer has gone real deep
