Ok, so i am somewhat experienced at this point in my turning, and with the delivery of several new tools, I shall review said tools!
JET VS mini lathe:
Once again, the company to beat is JET. This lathe is cram-packed with features that inferior lathes only dream about. With a 10" swing, and the possibility of lengths of 37" (with the optional bed extension), this machine is ideal for a tremendous amount of applications. Anyone from a beginner, buying their first lathe to a production turner, adding a new workstation can appreciate this wonderful piece of equipment! The genius pulley/ trap door system makes switching speeds and changing belts a 5 second process while keeping the inner working of the machine well protected. The 15 "settings" range in speed from 500 rpm's to 3900, but with the variable speed control, you can operate at virtually any rpm between the top and bottom numbers! It is small and light enough to be set up and used confortably just about anywhere, yet it is heavy enough to be solid, and strong. An excellent piece of equipment!

Another product that has been fine tuned through the process of experience! The key pinion fits inside the body of the chuck much better, which allows for more leverage when tightening. The precision of all the parts is amazing. A quality tool that was made to do one thing, and do it well. This chuck also boasts a new AUTO STOP feature that keeps the jaw slides on the chuck without the possibility of shearing a stop screw. It is Unconditionally guaranteed for 2 years, and comes with woodworm screw, 2" dovetail jaws, and other neccessary goods for operation. The perfect match for the Jet mini, or any other lathe with a 14" swing or smaller for that matter!

These tools are from the Artisan line. Made by Henry Taylor, the surfaces of Artisan tools are not as finely polished as the Henry Taylor tools, but the quality of the steel and price range make them an excellent value for the beginning turner. An absolute excellent set of tools for any beginner. These tools will keep you busy for a very long time! The set has a perfect combination for a starter, or someone simply looking for good tools.
The 1/2" bowl gouge is an absolute monster. The design and shape of the flute make it a very handy tool, for both large and suprisingly small projects. Versatility at it's finest.
The 3/8" Spindle Gouge is perfect for tons of spindle work. It is well balanced, and very comfortable to use.
The 1" Round Point Scraper is a very solid scraper, ready for years of use. Excellent for making quick work on bowls.
The 1/2" Skew Chisel leaves nothing to the imagination. A serious tool for serious turning. whatever the chore, this Skew is armed and ready for action! What an awesome tool.
And finnaly, the Diamnod parting tool. This is the parting tool to end all parting tools. A large, strong parting tool with lots of bevel that just begs to be rubbed!
