I turned a spalted sweet gum bowl, sanded to at least 800, wiped on one coat of Seal-a-Cell, and buffed with white diamond and carnuba.  Did get a nice semi-gloss, but not what I was looking for.  Went back and read in the gallery what Neal said about it.
1.  Since this wood was so dry, should I have added another coat of SAC?
2.  Should I have started the buff with tripoli to get a higher gloss?

There is a compound named Final Luster that I use on acrylic dentures & wood. They end up glassy.Be sure you get the highest quality wheel you can find.Your time is worth the difference in price.
