Sandpaper Selection

I've Got a question about sandpaper. I was sondering what type of paper is best to get at the local Homedepot. I've noticed that some tends to last longer than others. Like the porter cable stickyback only lasts for about 30 seconds then I need more. Thanks.....Brian

Without a doubt, Norton 3X.  They sell it at HD in the 20-25 sheet contractor packs.  Best there is.

I asgree with Leo, the Norton 3X is the best retail sandpaper available.  Yes there is some better stuff available from specialty suppliers such as Klingspor.

For sheet paper I use 3m 216u, it is safe to use pre waterbase finishes too. I understand 3X may not be due to its' lubricant. I have found 216u to last better than Norton 3X when hand sanding flat work. I get it from Homestead Finishing.
Try Rhino on 5" discs, very good value, I got them at local Woodcraft.
I just got some Abranet 3" discs and the two times I used it I was pleased with cutting speed. Can not report on durability yet.
