Stu,
Excellent vids.
what is the final thickness your turning them at? are you going to leave them to warp on their own for a more Artistic look? is it just for practice?

High Chuck

These pieces are all green, so they are now in the DNA bath, and then will be dried and finished turned.

They are not large, the largest would be maybe 12 cm in diameter, so I leave the usual 10% or about 1 cm +-

I have a TON of these, I really do, so I'll be doing a lot of practice, but I hope to have a lot survive the ride so I can give them away, or sell them.

Pic below is the stacks I have cut in half and sealed up.........

Hi, Stu:
Good videos.  The only thing I noticed that I thought might be a bit questionable was that you didn't chop out a flat area around the screw mounting hole for the chuck jaws to seat against.  On a blank that small you can get away with having a curved surface against the jaw faces but anything much bigger will tend to rock a bit.

Take care
Bob

Thanks Bob, that is a very good point, on larger NE bowls, I usually use a Forstner bit to make a flat spot.

Cheers!
