Thanks Lauire, this is real helpful and I like the finish of the pen and stopper. You wouldn't want to mail some of them big cones to S.C. would ya. We don't get any that size out here on the east coast

Thank you for the pics and the tutorial.  I had no idea how you did this.  Another nice pen displayed beautifully as well.

Great Job!

Thank you Laurie now that I know I have a few that will be turned into bottle stoppers.

Thanks for posting this.  Now I've gotta catch me some giant pinecones.  I hear they are deceptively agile and quick. Wink

Exactly how big is / was this pincone before cutting.  Dimensions would help me visualize better.  Beautiful pen by the way!

Hi Laurie,  I'm brand new to the group and I'm wondering where I can find more info about making pine cone pens.  I have thousands of cones and would love to make something with them.

Hi Laurie,

How do you soak the pen blank in thin CA?  Do you just apply it a little at a time and let it harden? Do you dip it?

This may be a stupid question but it's not obvious to me.  Thanks.  Beautiful pen by the way.

Laurie,
I had not seen oine cones like this. Once again, you have impressed me.
My 11yr old, Noah, just turned his first pen the other day and he is hooked. We must try these 'cones'!

That is a really neet idea.  I'm going to have to give that a try when I get a little more experience under my belt.  I'm pretty new to turning.  I have been turning pens for a couple of months.

Laurie, I really loved your idea of making blanks from pine cones. I have some fairly large ones around my house and made this slimline from your tutorial. Thanks for the inspiration.  I have attached a picture of the slimline if I did it right.
