pine cone tutorial (lots of pics)

#1. I like to cut the top off so I can see where I need to follow a line.

Do you just apply it a little at a time and let it harden? Do you dip it? This may be a stupid question but it's not obvious to me. Thanks. Beautiful pen by the way.
