WR 2009 Calender Voting
Oct 11th, 2008 at 11:29am

Looks like we had a great turn out and now it's time to vote.

Here is how it going to work, all registered members get to pick up to 12 photos. The top 12 images from 12 different turners will be chosen for the calendar. If one turner has 2 selections in the top 12, the next photo with the highest count will be picked.

Each photo below is hot linked to the larger image in the gallery.

Each person gets to vote for 12 pieces, please do not vote for more.
Once you submit your vote, you have 10 minutes to make any corrections.

Voting will end Midnight Saturday, October 18, 2008 (Pacific Time). Sunday the results of the voting will be shown.

Ron, am I correct that these are for the most part only the gallery photos that were originally submitted?  And, that you have better photos for most of these?

We need more voting on this.  We used to have it so those who are just lurking could vote and not have to be members, is that still possible?

You might try posting a new link under all of the topics like you did for nominations. I don't think everyone finds this thread. I can only access it through the main topic header.

Phil, all one has to do is check a box when they are creating a poll to allow nonmembers to vote.
I left nonmembers out for the reason you just mentioned.  Smiley

Leo is right, 5 way tie for the last 4 spots.  Jim, Wizzy posted a picture for Chuck that is why he has two entries.

Should we have another poll and have us pick 4 out of the 5?

You could always put 5 numbers in a hat & have your kid(s) draw out 4. The second poll would be good but time-consumming; not that I have anything else to do.  Smiley

i inputed the pic num, turner, vote count in excell.  sorted by turner first, then count and removed those with multiple entries.  took those remaining and resorted and do not come up with a tie.

this is what i come up with:

23      phill              23
22      G              22
29      flyrod      18
11      yakima      18
16      wizzy              16
20      vaughn      15
14      mark              14
3      bobham      13
13      leo              13
5      recon      13
18      roundwood      13
25      wheels      13
8      me              12
6      draygore      10
9      jimQ                7
26      rev                6
15      manbow        4
24      swash        4
21      edbug        3

Bama's got a point.  by what I see Pic No.1 should be third.  Ron, I would have sorted by count first then eliminated any from a turner that was duplcated in the top 12 and then gone from there.  If a turner ended up with two in the top 12 then all but the first one should be removed.

photo #1 and photo #23 are both by Phil.  since a turner can only be in once, pic #1 is disco.

also, this is a UNofficial count, not a official.

Yep; it looks like a 5 way tie for the last 4 spots to me as well.   Ron, you've done a great job with this.  I think however you best want to break the tie is fine with me.

I submitted the photo but the bowl was turned on Philliip's lathe back in april.  I brought the wood and everyone took turns working on it. Once we got the shape we liked, I took it home and put the finish on it.  We call it the PhillipE Symposium bowl.  If we need to rename it that's fine, but it was the name I submitted it under in the gallery.

No hard feelings on my part.

Ron has the final word on this.  I have taken the poll results and entered them into excel though.  The way I've read the results, the list is as follows (unofficial of course):
Phil
GC in VA
Travis
Yak
Flyrodd
Wizzy
Vaughn
Mark Damron
Bobham
Leo
Roundwood
Wheels4

Congratulations to all of you.  Your work has proven, once again, to be outstanding.  I look forward to getting the word that the calendars are ready and will be placing my order as soon as they are.

#1 wasn't Phil's, it was a joint effort of about 6 or 8 people, Rev, Phil, Craig, Bama, Smoky, me, and I think Hillbillyred got a hand in it.  Did I miss anyone??  And then Bama did the finishing.

So it shouldn't count against any one of them.
