Drill about a 5/8" hole about 1" deep in the center of a small block of wood.  Then turn it into a small goblet shape.

JR:

Here's another link to the Wood mag site. They sell a set of plans for $3.50 and I'm sure it's alot better than anything I could come up with, given my neanderthal photo skills.

That's the fancy version.   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Cool Cool

If you can find the March, 2008 issue of Wood Magazine, the directions are in it.

well crud...

i went to see if i could find the wood magazine online, and unlike just about every mag in the world, they seem to not have a free online version. in fact, i went to their "website" and it was just an order form for the magazine.

And i am the kinda guy that makes his own hollowing tools because he doesnt want to pay the way overinflated prices for commercial tools, so i really have a hard time paying for blueprints... unless they are for my new dream home maybe... lol

anyway, i will set my computer up tonight to try to get the youtube vid... thanks for all the awesome replies everyone!! It should be a good experience!!
