Spring Challange & Trade

Here it is, the Spring 2009 Challange & Trade.

Your goal is:

An end grain box, 2.5" - 5" in diameter,
with a grain matched lid that fits just snugly enough to pick up the box by lifting the lid
.  Embellishments such as an inlay get you extra brownie points.
The real challange is matching the grain of the lid.  This means you need to make it out of one piece of wood with a skinny parting cut to remove the piece for the lid.

The deadline is midnight, Saturday, May 9.  That gives you almost 3 weeks.  So sign up and start turning.

For those of you who are new to our C&T's, WR challanges you to make a piece that fits a (usually) broad set of specifications we provide.  After the deadline, when everyone is supposed to be done, we pair up the participants with Randomizer and each pair trades their finished pieces.  Do not sign up if you don't want to trade.  If you have problems getting it done, let me know before the deadline so I do not assign you a partner.

Hmm, I've got this Ash log.....  OK, I'm in.

Between 2.5" and 5" in diameter.  I said nothing about the height, but it has to look proportioned right.
