Reply #7 - Jul 13^th, 2009 at 7:18pm I think mulberry either white or red as it is unusual for black to grow that far north. Both white and red are more cold tollerant and will grow as far north as Mass. Normal mulberry is yellow when first cut and will darken in two of 3 days exposed to sunlight.

They look like a parasitic plant growing off the side of the tree to me rather than the leaves of the tree itself. I'm not so sure that it is not either walnut or butternut (with burls to boot). Rev.
