Fish tank stand
Jul 16th, 2009 at 12:00am

This is my first attempt at making any kind of furnature. It is to hold up a 75 gal. tank.

The frame is made entirely of recycled wood from 70 year old garage that I tookd down for a friend.

The frame wood is clear vertical-tight grain fir. It has about 20 -22 grouth rings per inch. the front legs are my first attempt at spindle turning.  I managed to get them to be with in 1/10 of an inch of being equal. The stand is 48 1/2" long, 32 3/8" high and 18 1/2 wide.  I managed to get the frame to be within 1/32" of being square.  The finish is an antique oak.  The whole thing is held together with 3/8" carraage bolts.

Wow, that looks very nice. I like the open look to it. Seems like all the aquarium stands I've seen have closed cabinets below. Your spindle front makes for a nice alternative. The spindles look very well matched from here.

Hey, that's a really good design.  I agree w/ Vaughn about the open look.
