I have recently turned a choke cherry tree. The color was tanish-brown with a dark heartwood. It was not to exciting grain, but it turned very nice. Sorry I don't have pics, mostly because the bowl is still drying. Smiley

I've never seen or heard of a chokecherry tree 12" in dia. I'm not saying it can't happen but I'd be suprised.

Hi Marc,

I never miss out on picking any wood up...if it ain't no good I can throw it away... but if I never pick it up in the first place, then I'll never know.

p.s. I get a lot of Palm tree wood, but find that it just warps and cracks all over...it's like bolsa wood...no grain.... nowt to it.  any ideas out there or is it a dead loss. OR am I just a dead loss. Cry Cheesy

As promised here is the pic of the tree & why it has to come down. We had a few good heavy winds a few days ago & it lost some 3" branches & I don't want it to fall on my house.

Click the pic 2 times for full size.
