Flat work jig.
Dec 28th, 2009 at 3:51pm

I have seen a jig advertised lately, and was wondering if anyone on here might be using it. It is called a Kreg jig. sold at kregJoint dotcom. It looks as if it might come in handy, but was kind of concerned about the price. Any feedback from flatworkers, or part time flatworkers would be appreciated.     Tony
P.S. I am new here, so I hope I got this in the right area.

They work well if you like using screws instead of joinery.

I prefer mortise and tenon.

I've had one for quite some time.  My main use is screwing together split collars to hold pieces in jam chucks, which certainly doesn't justify the cost.  I must've had some grandiose plans when I bought the thing, then . . .

It is a great tool for building face frames and attaching them to cabinets.

Thanks for the input. I will take them into consideration before purchasing one.     Tony smiley=dankk2.gif
