Was give some big chunks Osage Orange, River Birch, Pecan, Cherry, Hickory, Black Walnut and Cherry.  All I have to do in return is make him a few pens.  What a deal.

Oh, and some Locust.  I guess I'll take some pics if that's the way it's going to be  Grin, and by big I'm thinking more of the pen turning frame of reference, not half a tree.

As per your requests, pics.  From left to right: Aromatic Cedar, Pecan, Walnut (against the lathe), River Birch, Orange Osage (I've already done some cutting on it), Hickory, Cherry (behind the Hickory), Hackberry (on far right) and laying in the center, Locust.  Free is a very good price  Cool .  Ohh, and no hacking on my Turncrafter lathe.  It's matched to my skill level.

Looks like a good haul.  Pity your lathe can't handle those big pieces, you may need to get someone else to turn it for you.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Cool Cool

I suppose you just happen to know some one who can turn them?

I'm not making pens out of all of it.  I will let it dry and when I upgrade the lathe, start with the big stuff.
