another new guy

Hi, I joined this forum a while back and then got busy and am just now getting a chance to introduce myself. I retired to the Arizona Desert a few years ago and have done some woodworking and woodcarving (caricatures mostly). When we lived in Vermont I had a chance to buy a new Delta 46-700 in New Hampshire where it was on sale and there is no sales tax. I was still working and didn’t have much time to do woodworking but have always wanted to do lathe work and the price was right so I bought it, should have done some research as I now read that most turners don’t hold the 46-700 in very high regard. I have turned a few small bowls and would like to try my hand at some boxes. I find the posts here fascinating and spend too much time reading them. I look forward to learning much.

Welcome to this not so little corner of the vortex, there is no escape.  What part of the AZ desert do you occupy?  I'm in Glendale.

Dale, I'm going to miss the next 2 months meetings. I'm supposed to work every Sat through April 15.  I already told them I had other plans for March 13 when Stu is there.

Jim & Dale, I live in the county, in the Pinnacle Peak-Lake Pleasant Drive area, with a Peoria address. I’ll try to post some pictures if I can figure out how.

Thanks for the welcome. Mention was made about posting some pictures so I’m going to give it a try. These are bowls I turned for presents. No pix of the mistakes.
