Winged Bowl quick video
Jan 31st, 2010 at 12:15am

Hey guys, here is a quick video that I put together for my website.  By no means is it a how to video, it is a quick video more for marketing than education.  Thoughts are welcomed.
Thanks!
Jeff

Great video!  Covers all the essentials succinctly.

Looking at that carefully, the bowl would appear to work upside down too

Smiley

Nice video too.

I've only been wrong once.  That was when I thought I was mistaken, but it turns out I wasn't.

Jeff, you finished peice is very nice, but.
I know you say it's not a how-to video, but it seems to me that you are using a "unique method" of turning.
Most turners, would not start on the back, or headstock side of the peice. Also starting from the outside and cutting inward against the grain on a winged peice is quite dangerous, given where you are standing.
I am not trying to offend or anything, I just want people to work safely.

Ed,
Thank you for the concern.  This was the first winged bowl and I did learn a lot of what to do next time as well as what not to do.  Safety is a huge concern and I appreciate your comment.
David,
I did not get any video of the inside of the bowl due to lack of planning!  I had the camera in one place for the whole project but I could have easily moved it.  I also could have taken some stills of the inside but just forgot.  And it's too late now, I just shipped it to my brother for his 40th birthday.
