Hi, newbie from McHenry, IL here. Been lurking for a bit and thought I should introduce myself. First turned in Junior High Woodshop (errr 1980 or so I think) Been playing with woodworking off and on ever since.

Decided to pick up a lathe for my own shop with this years tax refund and got myself a Jet 1220VS and love it although I haven't had much time to play yet.

Been enjoying reading so far, but don't feel like I have much to contribute yet - hopefully soon enough!

Kevin, welcome to this not so little corner of the vortex. There is no escape.

Your start was like mine, except my JrHi was 20 years earlier. I too have the 1220VS and it is a wonderful machine. I haven't had much time to play with it since January because I have been too busy helping people get their refunds. I work for H&R Block. That will all change in 3 weeks when I get laid off.
