I might hit each screw with a spot of some type of rust preventing primer prior to paining with a water based paint, just so they don't ooze that rustiness down the line. I don't know, maybe I'm over-thinking it.  Grin

(by the way, Nice job so far!  thumbsup )

Mike, probably won't make any difference as they are being exposed to the moisture in the studs and plywood.  And the paint will seal from surface moisture.

Yeah, that makes sense. I love the idea of using ply instead of drywall. That's just awesome.

Hi Lark, forgive me I haven't been here for a while, but you & I think alike, I built my shop at the end of my garage also.  May not be the biggest shop, but it's my little "nook" where I  can go and enjoy the fine art & joy of woodturning as well as other forms of woodworking.  I'm gonna miss it when I move in the next coming months, but who knows?  maybe get a bigger shop in the new place.  Anyway...well done.  I like it!!

Can you stand yet another update?  Thanks for all the nice comments.  It's not going to be a "Norm" shop, but boy will it be nice to not have to walk from the basement (lathe) to the garage (chop saw, band saw, wood storage) over and over.  Changing shoes each time, so SHMBO does NOT drop the hammer on me Grin.

Things are coming together.  See blog. Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register  Primed and mostly trimmed.  Drywall installer has been by to do a quote on the exterior of the room.

Shopping for 5' of base and wall cabinets.  Looks like the unfinished ones at Lowe's may be the ones.  Not having much luck with used ones.

Keep the updates coming.  Looks great so far.  Just curious - why wouldn't you use painted ply on the exterior as well?

Lark, along with the primer brightening the room for you, if you'll put a good coat of gloss or semi-gloss paint on as a top coat you won't have as much saw dust adhering to the walls and ceiling.  Just a suggestion and really means very little to most.  If you want to keep it "clean" then it might help a bit.

kind of late now, but...

what i did with my shop was to paint the walls and ceiling, paint the trim a different color and then put the trim up.  by painting the trim first, i could use a 3" roller and it went fast.  also no messy cutting in.

Here's the latest.  Cabinets and countertop installed.  Some shelves and light are up.  The end is in sight.

After we get home with the cabinets, I realize I forgot the decorative end panels.  SHMBO tells me "I wondered when you walked right by them what you had in mind".   Tongue  She's usually not that shy about reminding of things Wink

Yet another update.  The end is near.  I can see a turning in my future.  I actually had time yesterday to glue and cut up some of my scraps for glue/jam chucks.
