Carol, where I used to live in the Sourland mountains in NJ, I was going to plant tomatoes and dug out a shovel full of dirt.  The hole started filling with water and ran for 5 weeks.  I had to find another place to plant.

Maybe I should drain and roof over my pool.  Hmmmm!

We didn't have city water, and the well was on the other side of the house.  Just a very wet spring.
