Reorganised space
03/06/11 at 03:52:01

I am new here and as I have just reorganised my workshop I thought I would give you a guided tour whilst it is still tidy. The heating boiler that took up a huge space in one corner had to be replaced so I took the opportunity to have a complete re-vamp. I have also given a box trailer that took up half the garage to a local farmer on condition I can borrow a trailer if I need one and that now means I don't have to take the car out of the workshop for every little job I want to do.

Going anti-clockwise from the right hand door:

Hand work bench with tools stored above and mitre saw on stand aligned with door so long work can be accommodated by opening the door

General storage shelving and the new boiler that started the whole thing off.

Overall view from the other door showing the little benchtop planer thicknesser in the middle. I now have room for a proper one (all I need is the money to buy it)

Very  nice shop Walter.  It's interesting to see, even though separated by an ocean how similar things are.  How long you reckon it will stay that clean?   beer

Very nice shop Walter and way too Clean!  I noticed on the lathe what seemed to be a control box of some sort, I have the 1624 I guess it's similar to the 3000. Is this a mod you did, variable speed control?

Thanks guys, I have reputation for being a bit obsessive about a tidy workshop although I don't really think I am. I just like to know where stuff is.

Scott the lathe is almost identical to the 1624. I have converted it variable speed by fitting a three phase iron horse motor and an inverter. The box on top of the lathe motor is a control box, the inverter is the blue box fixed to the wall behind the lathe. I can post some pics of how I did it if you want.

Really nice looking shop, but I have a question-How do you dare work in a shop that is so dressed up? beer You see, I would not dare to make something like that look "worked iC:\Users\Owner\Pictures\Turnings\IMG_1941(640x480).jpgn.

Mark - here are links to the 1624 conversion - and feel free to contact me with any questions - I'm very satisfied with the conversion on my 1624.
