Ron,

Clarification please.
Is that to say if we became a supporter since the last membership drive that we have one entry or is it calendar year?

Thanks everyone for your support.

It is very welcoming to see the emails come in from those helping support WR.

Len, yes it is for the calendar year.
Sorry about the confusion.

So there are stupid questions. Since I became a supporter mid December, does that count for this drive or should I add on?

FWIW, I joined for the "Easy Hollower" contest. Due to their kindness in selecting one of mine for a runner-up and expanding their giving, I ended up with three additional cutters for my finisher. Worth more than the support price in swag.

The prizes look like the greatest group we've ever had.  You do not want to miss out on this opportunity.  Besides the money goes 100% to keeping this site up and running.  Without you and your help there would be no Woodturners Resource.  Thank you all who have already donated.  If you haven't, won't you consider donating even at the lowest level.  Your help does indeed help.

Grab some cardboard from the shop, make a little sigh and stand at one of the freeway exits. You should be able to get the $20 in a few minutes.

A suggestion for your sign verbiage:

I so love the Thompson Tools this is a no-brainer for me.  I'd like the 1/2" V-gouge.  It's my favorite go-to gouge for bowl insides and now I can set one up with a double bevel for the bottoms.  I really appreciate this site and now its paying off in tools as well as knowledge.  Way Cool !!   Cheesy  Thanks.

Thanks Ron,
I did not see the EWT detailer marked off the list, but reading the posts it looks like David Seaba has dibs on it.  That being the case I will opt for the Thompson 5/8" V Bowl gauge and thanks a lot!! smiley=thumbsup.gif

Ron should probably be able to explain it better, but from what I've read Ron uses a randomizing website to generate a list of winners from all the submitted names, then works through them from 1st to last. If you miss your turn then you don't get another shot until the other winners have chosen.

So if you're first, but don't respond in 24 hours, you go to the bottom of the list.

This is also how I understand it, which means those who missed a turn shouldn't have another turn until the entire list is run through once. No? That happened to me last year. I was picked first, and missed responding in time, and went to the end of the list.

Please clarify Ron.

Easy, there's X number of prizes and X number of winners but Z number of entries.

If you donate you get an entry, but only a number of winners equal to the number of prizes are selected. They, in turn, get a chance to pick the prize they want. If they don't they go to the bottom of the list.

If there's 50 prizes and 100 people donate than only 50 are going to be winners. The 1st guy (or girl) gets the pick of the litter, the last guy (etc) gets whatever no one else picked.

If people are getting a 2nd chance to pick that means they missed their first chance, and Ron (and staff) have reached the end of the list. In other words, they got to winner #50 but #'s 10, 15, 23, 44 didn't respond so now they go back to winner #10, etc. until all the prizes are assigned.

I presume that a winner fails to respond to their 2nd chance that they go back to the bottom of the list, or maybe Ron will go back to the randomized list of donators and pick person #51, etc.

There are 50+ people that became members and 26 prizes were offered.

26 names were randomly generated for the list.

We go through the names and each person gets to pick their prize. If they fail to respond within 24 thier name goes to the bottom on list of 26 for a second chance.

=== Edit In===

Thanks for responding Rafael.

I received a phone call in the middle of typing, you are 100% correct.

And yes, they only get a second chance, after that I will go back to the original list and pick the next name(s) on the list

What I find dis-enheartening is that only 50+ people became members. that is a terrible percentage of the over all membership. Come on others get in there and join this site, it is the best around.
Just my 2 cents.

No one can get more than one prize.  It just gave you more chances of being higher on the list.  Any duplicate names were removed after the list was generated by Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register.  The highest place on the list that a name appeared was the one that was left.

Who?  Me?  I never win anything....  Are you sure you drew my name???

Hooray, I'll take the Cousineau Wood Product box of blanks.

And since the cast comes off of my hand in ten days I should be back in the shop turning in time to play with them.

Thanks, Ron and Cousineau Wood Products!

Awesome!

Thanks guys!

I'll take the inlace blanks... although I see they say shipping to the lower 48. I'll cover the shipping north of the border if they're willing to send them.

Cheers.

Great turnout for the Membership Drive.  All the vendors have been notified.  I would hope that everyone will contact the vendor that provided their prize and thank them personally.  If you are ordering from any of our vendors, please tell them that you heard about them on Woodturners Resource.

To see who won what prize, look at the first post in this thread.

Thanks for participating.

So glad that so many participated and that all the prizes are now claimed.  What great fun.  We set records in more than one category.  WR is now able to meet all its obligations for a good while with no worries.  Thank you all for your participation and showing your support by giving to this great site.  Thank you, as well, to all the businesses and individuals who donated our great prizes.  They made for an excellent selection.  In fact, one of the best I've ever seen on the net.  Donors, participants, all members of every description, we all work together to make Woodturners Resource the fastest growing, most resourceful turning site on the net.  Way to go WR!

Thank you, David Seaba.  I received the game call kit today and all I can say is wow.

Folks, David not only filled the box with call parts, but all of the wood blanks are generously cut, high-end woods.  The only thing not included was a lathe Smiley

I'm really looking forward to these projects.

Thank you for the generosity, David.

I recieved my box of blanks from Cousineau Wood Products and I am impressed!  I have been wanting to try my hand at some crochet hooks like Katherine Kowalski turns.  These will be perfect.

Thank you Ron, for your part in this.  I've sent a note to Curtis Cabaniss thanking them for the box of goodies!
