Shop pix

Here are some pictures of my shop. I hope the pictures post. The sign was a retirement gift from my wife when we moved back to Arizona from Vermont. The shop is a detached building  that I set up to do mostly flat work and Windsor Chairs (made one for each of my children plus 3 youth chairs,2 high and 1 regular for the grandkids), have only made one with a friend since. Since then I have made a large batch of Shaker Oval Boxes but you can only pawn so many of those off on family and friends. Also have made wood carvings, caricature style, and have just started turning. My lathe is a Delta 46-700 that I bought on a whim when a woodworking store in New Hampshire was going out of business and had a smoking deal and no sales tax. From what I have read it’s not much of a lathe and seems to be problematic. I noticed that some pictures of these lathes I’ve seen on line several turners have taken off the plastic cover over the headstock and reeves drive pulleys. Do you think they do this to better clean and lubricate the reeves drive? As you can see any horizontal space is considered a shelf and treated thusly. I and several friends enjoy working here and it keeps us out of the casinos.

I would leave the cover on to keep most of the dust out of it.

Nice setup you have there. I especially like the part about several Friends all hanging out & working together. I wish I had the same here.
