Just finished painting 6 offices and a board room at our new building so I might actually have some time in the shop... I'm not too much of a fan of the "flat" version of these.

Would something like this (not my work) still fit the bill?

It sure looks like an "elongated natural edge bowl."

Better than mine.  I blew up #3 & #4 today.  Looks like I am out of the running this time.

I'm out of logs for this.  I have two successful ones that are 1.5" x 4", but they're so tiny I don't think they really qualify for the trade.  My last larger one broke off at the tenon this evening and cracked when it hit the ground.  This has been true to the label of challenge though!

Did you see a size requirement in the specifications?

Your one successful one sounds like it qualifies to me.

Carrie, for me, size doesn't matter. I've only gotten a couple items from fellow turners and I love them all. Some are small, one is large. I'd say add your successful one to the trade, unless you can't part with it. It will be better to have yours added to the mix than not at all.

Yes these are a challenge. They are great projects when you feel you're getting stale and need something to test your nerves. When you get one off the lathe, the tend to be one of the first pieces people pick up to admire and wonder how you were able to do that.

Alright!  I've got one to trade then Smiley  I really was worried it was too small, but you guys reassured me!  Time to get it finished and photographed now.

I'm about 2/3 done... Promised to take the kidlet out to "build a bear" today as her kindergarten graduation present but I've got time tomorrow and Sunday to work downstairs.

Like Leo I've had to make some use of the 80 grit gouge. Wink

Yes.  It has been there since early this afternoon.

Go to the Gallery and post your pictures for this in the "2011 Summer Challenge" area if you want to trade.  They must be posted by midnight Sunday EDT.  Also I must have received a PM with your mailing address by then.  Let's see some pictures now.
