MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE!

Announcing a new wood trade to celebrate our achievement of 3500 members.
Ladies and gentlemen, YOU are the reason Woodturners Resource exists.  Since we have reached this incredible we want to celebrate by having a wood trade.

Here is how it works.
Send me a PM with your mailing address and any woods you are allergic to.
Go to the post office and obtain a MEDIUM flat rate box, the one that is flatter and not so much shaped like a shoe box.
Cut some of your local wood to shape and size so that it will fill that box.
Just after the deadline I will send out the name and address of the person you will send your box to and then sit back and wait for a similar box to arrive at your house.

This time we will do things a little bit differently.  Once the deadline to send in your name and address arrives, I will put the names into a name randomizer and pair the participants up.  There is a plan if we have an odd number.  Once those names are announced, you may either simply surprise your partner or contact them via PM to see what their preferences are and then fill their desires.  Personally, I prefer surprises and will have my box filled long before the names are drawn.

So, get your names and addresses to me via PM, fill those boxes, and let the games begin.

Deadline to have names and addresses in:  Saturday, 7/30/2011, midnight CDT
Pairings to be announced no later than:       Monday, 8/1/2011
Wood in the mail:                                       Friday, 8/5/2011

IMPORTANT!!  PLEASE READ!!  There are lots of creepy crawlies that have infested much of our wood here in the USA.  Because of that fact, most borders are being tightened on raw wood.  Even within the country I understand that the PO is watching things a bit more closely.  Besides we don't want to be responsible for the spread of insects that devastate our supply of raw material.
Therefore:
This trade will be restricted to inside the borders of the USA.  (So sorry to have to do this  Cry)
I would also ask that everyone PLEASE remove all bark from your wood.
I would further suggest that you fully tape all the seams and corners of the box so that any critters that do make it through your diligent inspection will be contained until it arrives at its destination.

Let's get ready to do some trading! Smiley  Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley

3500 Members! WOOD TRADE!!!

How many of you would like to see a box of wood from somewhere else in the country?  The Post Office doesn't charge for the boxes, and the postage is only $10.95.  Most people pack as much in as will fit since the postage is based on the box size, not the weight.  All you have to do is cut some wood from your stock to fill the box and mail it.  In return you get a box of wood from someone else.

So far we only have 13 members signed up.  You have a week and a half to sign up and another week to get the box ready and get it mailed.  This only happens a couple times a year, don't miss out.  This is one of the member benefits that you signed up to access.

To fit in a medium Flat Rate box.  There are 2 Medium FRB.  One is about 12X9X5, and the other is 12X13X3.  Depending on what you have, cut it to fit one or the other.  Either one costs $10.95 at the PO or a little less if you pay on line.  A while back I used an axe to split a log to fit.  So cut it however you can.

Let Rev know if you are in.

The list is growing.  You don't want to be left out.  This is not like a C&T where you have to go out and turn a piece to fit into some guidelines.  All you have to do is cut some wood, slide it in a box, and mail it off.  You will, in return, receive a similar box of wood from some where else.  Simply an exchange of wood from different parts of the country.  Get your mailing information to me ASAP so you won't be left "holding the bag."

Up to 15 now.  Can we make it to 20?  To the best of my knowledge 20 is as many as we have ever had in an exchange.  Come on folks, lets not allow those from the past participate at a greater number than us.  We are the best of WR, for we are the here and now.  (Gee-Whiz that sounds like a Pepsi comercial)  Who else will join the fun.

Packed up my box today but used the more rectangular box... I was actually able to fits the pieces into it better than the longer but shallower box. If this is a problem, I need to know soon!

use either a O-FRB1 [11" X 8.5" X 5.5"] or  a O-FRB2 [11-7/8" x 3-3/8" x 13-5/8"]

you can order them from the PO and have them shipped right to your house for free.

Alrighty, I packed my box tonight!  I have to say, it's bulging at the sides a tiny bit, but I think the post office will let it through.  Now to wait for my partner to find out if he/she prefers all wood, or if they'd like me to swap one of the pieces out for a jar of homemade jelly.
