Well, against all odds, I've finished the goblet. Ya gotta bear in mind that I've not turned anything in over a year so there's a "booboo" on it but it's not that bad.

Here's what it is: a piece of cedar that'd been layin' around for about 10 years. It's 265mm high, the bowl is 90mm in dia., the wall thicknes is an ave. of 1.5mm, the stem is 150mm and the stem is 4mm in dia. Pic.in the gallery soon

Good luck to the lota,ya.  smiley=thumbsup.gif

What is interesting is that of the 14 pictures posted so far, 4 are from members in the Phoenix area.  Tom, Kathy, Gary, and myself.

For all practical purposes, mine is done.  I do still need to knock the finish back and add another coat, but it is turned, sanded, and off the lathe.  Pics to be posted tomorrow evening.

Pretty much.  Shop time has been precious.  Today LOML informs me that we are going to redo the dining room today.  So we started it.  She thought we would get it done in one day.  Yeah, right!  Anyway, we got it cleared and primed.  Sunday is the normal busy church day.  Monday and Tuesday I'll be at our state convention.  Wednesday will be a day to catch up and prep before prayer meeting.  Thursday I'll have time in the evening to mud and tape the seams in the paneling that we are covering.  Going to thin some dry wall compound and roll it on to make a smooth wall.  At least that is the plan.  We'll see how it goes.

it is with deep regret that i must bow out of this challenge.  last night, in a drunken rage, my stepson destroyed the base to my entry.  I do not have enough free time to come up with another.

i am sorry.

Is that it ??? 13 entries ( I think ) ??? how can we get more people involved ?? it's fun, any ability turner can join in, good bad and ugly are all more than welcome, every piece is considered a good effort whatever the ability.
It's never a heavy piece, so shipping even to/from me isn't much cost and to top it all you get to see other turners work...............WOW. smiley=beer.gif

just my 2c.
I know some had to bow out recently !! Cry

I hear you Leo. I try to do as many as I can as well as all of the turner's challenges with my local club. It keeps you out of a rut, teaches you new techniques, and sharing is just too much fun. The few things I've gotten over the last year make great references for things I'd like to try.

For me, it is like so many other things in life. You get out what you put in.
