nice info.  the only thing i do a little different is, i apply glue to both mating surfaces, spread around to a thin layer, then rub the pieces together.  this creates a nice tight joint for me.

when I made stave drum shells, I also used biscuits between each stave... or a spine which I like better as it looks really cool when you take the drum head off and see the top of the spine.. esp if its a contrasting color wood. also, ill post up a link to an online stave calc my buddy made when we did the drum shells.. incase you guys havent seen it and think you may be able to use it.

here it is...           Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

a good thing about this too is if you enter the dimension of your finished product, say, 12" or so, it will give you the width of each stave as well as the angle to cut it at. The original program was written by Lou Cambruzzi and adopted for use on the Oregon Drums site by William Reeves.
