I have had several members, through posts or PM's, suggest that we should do more wood trades.  I am creating a poll to see how frequently you would want participate in a wood trade.  If you are not interested in trading, please answer "Never".  We want answers from people that actually want to do this.

Please be honest as to how frequently you would be interested in participating.

Thank you for your input Mike, either way it still adds up to the same thing.

I may not be able to participate in all of them but Monthly sounds great!

Quarterly sounds about right; but I am sitting here looking for pen kits to wrap some of the wood I got around even now. I stirpped one pen down and replaced the wood.
This was as much fun as I have had with my lathe.
I got about 4 boxes from the PO and will cut them in advance so they are ready to go!

Originally they said that Flat Rate Boxes would not change this month.  As I understand now Medium FRB will be $11.35.  A .40 increase.  You can save about .50 by paying online and printing your label from the USPS web site.  You can print on plain paper and cover it with tape on the box or use half sheet labels from an office store.  The large FRB, the discount is also more than the rate increase.

I use the Click & Ship for my woodcarving business and these wood trades.  One thing I found out is that some postmasters won't take the box if it is buldging or the tape touches the upc bar.  Take the same box to the next towns post office and it goes through with no problem. Another thing is don't call it wood.  I have had less returned when I say carving blocks or turning blocks.  Wood sends up the red flag. "If it fits it ships"  Go figure Grin

Harold, tht is because there are so many restrictions about shipping plant materials across state lines.  If I buy oranges that were grown in CA and try to drive back into CA with them in my car, I can be fined if I don't present them to the Ag inspector at the state port of entry for destruction.  I watched them empty a UHaul cab of potted plants one time.  There must have been 20 of them, plus more in the car she was towing.

Maybe a few of you who do participate in trades can post some pics of what is sent to you, or what you sent out.  -Andy
