it looks like the skew is ground using a convex (rounded) grind instead of a straight or concave grind. (Like Capt Eddie advocates.)
does anyone know for sure?

Personally, I really liked the music and was wondering what it was.  Would like to have a copy of it in my arsenal of mood music.

Isn't that nuts.  I can watch Bob's videos directly on YouTube, but this skew video will not load.  Don't you love how Appleis so accommodating?

A very nice dance with the spindle but way too long!
I find a spindle gouge much faster although I do use the dreaded skew sometimes!

I have to agree with Tom.
Although I understand it's showing us what is possible with a skew. I found myself thinking, just get out a spindle gouge and be done with it already.
No denying his skills, just not my cup of tea.

i don't know, i think the skew would have been my go-to tool for rolling those beads- i find i can get a much smoother shape with it. now, some parts yes, i would use a spindle gouge, but others i'd use a skew. personal tool preference, i guess.
