That's very true.  But Joanie's been very generous and good natured about the entire adventure smilies=bowdown.  I was in pretty good shape until the AC/Heat pump came in a grand over budget.   bang head

I was hoping that a less expensive mini-split AC system would work.  But there were a few too many complications that could cause problems.  That and I've read some less than complimentary reviews about them.  So I decided to go with a more conventional split system.  In the long run this is a better choice.

Right now we're about a week behind schedule.  The electric is all run and the mains were pulled yesterday.  Roofing should be completed by Thursday and the thing rocked in by Friday.  If that happens, I can start painting over the weekend.

Regardless of any set backs just remember this is your turning Castle! A dream come true. You get what you pay for, good stuff never come cheap IMHO, unless it is given as a gift.  smiley=lolk.gif

So true, Breck!  It's just a bit aggravating. But had I known in advance, I'd have budgeted for it anyway, so is there really any loss other than the frustration?  Not really, other than losing time being frustrated.

The electric runs were completed today and the box wired, breakers are in!

Attic flooring, completing the roof, AC/Heat and maybe installing windows and doors are planned for tomorrow.  Thursday the insulation and drywall is 'supposed" to go in.  At least that's the plan!

No AC, only half the roof work got done and the waste pile is building up.  Getting further and further behind schedule.

Time to improve contractor moral.  I'll do this with a few encouraging words and by withholding payment until things are back on schedule Wink

The attic flooring was completed---an hour job that took all morning.  It appears that a new guy brought in to help speed things up slowed down the other two that were actually getting things done.

Suffice it to say, I'm not a happy camper (hang on, more cliche's coming).  I may be reading the riot act tomorrow morning.  Time to kick this thing into gear, get a move on, light a fire under them, show my A, have a hissy fit, show 'em who's boss----LOL  Grin Grin Grin smiley=dankk2.gif smiley=lolk.gif

I saw a cartoon once, the caption asked who has no concept of time?  answer was a pic of a disheveled man on a desert island  and a building contractor.
Threats of termination might work.  I'd try pizza and pop for lunch and some good natured prodding.  I always felt appreciated when the boss bought lunch.

Just mention in passing that you're planing on a huge party with lots of beer and high quality steaks on the barbie when the shop gets done, and that they are all invited.  smiley=beer.gif

Nice didn't work with these guys.  And on time was supposed to be today.  They won't make it.  smiley=shake head.gif They need to insulate, put up all the dry wall, lights, connect the electric, install all the outlets, run the trim work.

So there goes having it done by my birthday! Cry

I agree hold the money completely out of their reach until they comply with agreed upon progress. The money is the only thing some contractors are interested in or worried about. No money usually motivates the unmotivated. smiley=lolk.gif
