My Castle/Shop Part - 1
03/09/12 at 16:36:37

I built my wife her dream house after I built my dream shop with a small efficiency apartment on the end of my shop for my mom. She passed last year, so my son now lives there, rent free (Go figure).I built my shop 30' X 40' out of bandsaw milled 2x6 Yellow pine studs from my old home sight. It withstood Hurricane Katrina so it is solid. The entire building is 30x55 when you include mom's old apartment. It is 12 years old now and too full of stuff as you can see. Most of the North side is a metal rack/wood storage and storm braces that I sell.

Thanks Bill here is the second part. All the cabinets came from an apartment complex that was repairing after Hurricane Katrina so I got them free.

Nice place ya got their, that old green monster in photo # 5, I know that lathe real well, that was the fist lathe I ever owned. It did what I wanted until I got my Jet, sold the green monster to my niece's husband and its still going as far as I know. Mama's dream house look alot like the house I helped my best friend build many years ago. I still have nightmares about hanging sheet rock!!!

Wizy that a was nasty hard job, but the part that almost got me was stick building the 12/12 pitch roof. I was standing on the second floor on top of scafolding on a step ladder top step holding the ridge board. I am an old defensive tackle who gravity loves. I was shaking up there.
Len if my son ever leaves you can have the one bedroom apartment when you come if you will teach me what you know about turning.

You got the cathedral ceiling over your den/living room area... if so... think of scaffolding, 3 high, three guys, one 6'6", another 6'9" and me... 5'7" hanging 12' sheet's... and I'm scared to "DEATH" of heights!!! Lookit this way you remember the old alarm clock that got the two bells and a striker in the middle, my knees were knocking like that darn clock!!!
