Bob I just turned a 10 1/2" x 3 1/2" Bowl using your technique. The curlies shot across the room almost 6' into the air I am hooked. The sides are to your specs less than 3/8" throughout. The thinner went through it . I had it cut from a log to placing it on a shelf in 5 or 6 hours. Had time to till the garden after. Thanks so much for your instructions. It is wonderful to have an almost finished product from green wood so soon. I will recoat again tomorrow. You can fuss at me any time!

Believe it or not, it can cause your centers to become out of alignment and cause run out... just saying.

I actually built it originally with the plywood going all the way across under the lathe, but was having trouble with the void filling with chips. Took it all apart again and cut the middle out. Seems to work fine and the centers match up.
