Best be digging through your wood stash.  Find that chunk of wood you have multiples of or that you don't think grows in other parts of the country.  Start getting it cut to fit in those flat rate boxes.  It won't be long now!

BTW, I just looked at the current stats.  There are 10 members on the board and 13 guests.  You folks that are just lurking around, join in the fun.  Sign up and you too can be a part of our trading of wood or projects, as the case may be.  We promise you'll have fun.   Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin

Looks like the magic number is down to 18.  It won't be long now!  Start getting your wood selected, cut, and boxed up.  We'll make the announcement and have sign ups soon.  More info at that time too.

As an ISA Certified Arborist, I would like to suggest that at the very minimum those folks that are shipping wood from one place to another should first microwave the piece for 10 seconds or so to kill any potential pests that may be hitching a ride. Ther are many insidious critters out there that are killing off many trees around North America. We don't want to be the vectors for any outbreaks. dankk2

Hey Rev,
This will be my first wood trade can you let me know how it works as to are the names drawn or what. Since I am primarily a bowl turner I will probably send a blank for a bowl. Is this alright? dankk2

Just make sure you fill the flat rate box as full as you can get it, you will not know who is getting your box until Rev PM's you. Here is the Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register of the last trade, it'll give you an idea as to what to expect.

That's right.  Shouldn't be long now.  As I logged on just now we are only 3 shy of making an announcement.  I'm starting to fill my box this afternoon.  Going to make some changes in what I'm turning and need to move some of my "smaller" wood out of the shop.  Getting over loaded anyway, so this change is only going to help.

A couple of important points.  Do NOT send any Ash or Walnut.  They both face quarantines in various states.  Remove any bark, and do not send wood that has any evidence of borers or other infestations.

If you used end sealer, place the wood inside a plastic bag so the sealer does not soak through the cardboard.  The USPS gets nervous about waxy substances.

Can you send more than one type of wood in your box if there is still room?

Does that mean that sending spalted woods would be a no-no?

Not if the wood is firm and without insects.
