I made myself a smock by using 100% cotton fabric, a zipper, and some velcro.  I used a pattern for scrubs, but made the front and the back pieces identical instead of a v-neck, then cut down the center and added the zipper and a straight up collar with velcro.  I also put velcro on the sleeves to cinch them tight without using elastic.

Chips don't stick to it and it's bright enough that it never gets lost down in the shop Smiley

I have a turners smock and always wear it when roughing a bowl but with the heat down here and no A/c in my shop I always take it off when finished roughing. I believe it is a Lee Valley turners smock. Wouldn't be without one for thoses times curlies are flying everywhere. I got a kick out of the under armor idea, with a shape like mine it would probably be hilarious. (Not saying it is not a great idea it's just we of the horizonally challenged might not like it.)

He's one of the house cats around here.  Not allowed in the shop, actually, since piles of shavings tend to look a lot like a litter box to them.

you could always get a chef's coat one that you can add velcro to. Cheap & easy.

You can get Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register for as low as $8.85 bucks and just one modification and it'll work as well as any other to keep out chips. A piece of velcro across the throat and your good to go. I've gotten things from this sight and had embroidery done but it cost a bit more.

A chef's coat might work. All of mine have a front pocket so that isn't so cool. I don't think the neck goes up quite high enough in front but the double breasted front would add extra padding for an IFO. The other thing is that the cuffs stop at mid fore arm and are a bit lose for around the lathe. Again a minor adjustment.

Since I have five or six already, it is probably easier to sew the pocket up.

Bob, I for one didn't need that picture.

When its below 30F in the shop, a bathing suit just wouldn't cut it.

A seam ripper will take care of any pocket you don't want.

I love mine.  I just got a second one.  First one is from CSUSA, and the second is from EWT.
