Sharpening Station

I was always reaching / searching for the sharpening station parts.  Then I organized as shown (see photo).  The PVC tubes are attached to the vertical stand.  The very long parts are stored on the back with a hole behind the grinder top platform.  Now all my parts are stored on the grinder stand / platform and I always can find my parts.

Hope this may help others who may want (need) to get more organized.

well done, effective & simple works for me.  If your going to say about the backside it would help if you also added pics of it.

Water... or light oil to keep what ever it is your grinding, if it starts to get hot dip in in to cool it off.

Nice set up, good way to have most of your gadgets handy when working. smiley=thumbsup.gif

It's my understanding that high speed steel tools should not be quenched in water, as it can cause micro-fractures in the material. The idea of quenching while grinding makes sense with high carbon steel, but it's not good for HSS.

Your correct, its best to allow HSS to cool down on its own. But the cup seen on most grinders are used to cool down hot medal after being ground... just saying.

Tom I'm  stealing your design.  driving home from work yesterday I  hit a garage sale and picked up a brand new  2 speed 8" grinder(same one John Lucas has in his videos) for $15.  now it  needs a stand and jigs.

My setup is such that the grinder sits on a file cabinet next to the lathe.

I am going to steal your ideas for the PVC to hold the parts but will mount the tubes to the shelf legs on either side of the cabinet, with another on the leg to the band saw to hold the Miter bar.  bang head  I love shop tours!! smiley=thumbsup.gif
