I've been saving for this for quite awhile now and I used my old craftsman (1962 model) again and it has to go. Plus the sweetie has given me the go ahead to get one. With out that I would just be saving.  Tongue Waiting for next Saturday is getting hard.  Wink

Bill --  there will be stories for sure!!!  I am looking forward to hearing them.

Even without the big carnival sale, Grizzly is an interesting place to visit.   Have stopped there on the way to the Alaska Ferry.   It was just to make sure that the vehicle was full of stuff on the way north of course.

Have fun -- and be safe in the crowd driving north on I-5 that morning.

I'm only 25 miles from the Bellingham store, but I wouldn't go to that mad house sale if you paid me.  It's normally pretty quite in the store, but when they have the sale days it gets busy as an ant hill.

Well I guess I'm a gluten for punishment.

The punishment will be worth it if you et a good deal on the saw you want.  I have a Craftsmen like yours (mine is a '53 model) and it really has it's shortcomings.

Well I'm home and I have a 14" deluxe Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register that was only missing the cardboard box that it comes in. Wasn't a fantastic deal but not to bad. $800.00. I bought a mobility stand for it and a couple of blades. Now I just have to get it off the truck and into the shop but it's POURING like crazy outside. I got a little wet but that is life and it's covered right now.  Angry Can't wait to play with it.

Congrats Bill! An engine hoist has helped me in the past.. Or a six pack of cold beverages and a few choice neighbors  beer  Glad to hear you made it in time to get one. It always brings a new magic into the shop when you get a new tool doesnt it?

A good bandsaw is indeed the turners best buddy!!!!   Neat --

But there must be more to the story.......    You surely had to fight off 3 grannies to get it.

Way to go Bill hope it wasn't as nuts as we all thought it could be. Just be careful and always stay focused when using it they are one of the more dangerous tools in the shop. thumbsup

Nice saw Bill.  It's not raining at my house, bring it on down and we can unload it into my shop!

I was a good day. A fellow turner and me left this morning at 5 and we were sitting at the Grizz at 6:30. There were about 50 people ahead of us and by 8 there most have been 150 behind us. There was a lot of money spent there today. We walked over to the band saws and there were already about a dozen guys looking at the saws. They had one 19, 4 17", the one 14" deluxe that I got and about a dozen regular 14". I wanted a 17 but they were a little rough, bent and missing things so I kept going down the line and there it was.  beer beer When I was in line with my little piece of paper, a line that lasted for 35 minutes for me, there were people with 3 and 4 carts full of many different things. There was one guy just ahead of me that was spending almost 14,000.00. People do go a little crazy. fun times had by all except until I was almost home. It started raining like dumping. I stopped and put a tarp over it and got soaked to the bone. Neighbor came over and we got it off the truck and into the shop. Dried it off and buffed the rust that had already started on the table. Angry Sure is pretty.
I forgot. Right behind it is my old one. What a difference.
