A Caution about plywood
06/25/12 at 22:02:56

Yesterday I put two large disc of 3/4" baltic birch plywood on the outboard of my lathe and trued them up,all was good until i grabbed some sandpaper and tried to smooth the edge. That was when a lone piece of the outer vineer splintered and went all the way through my finger which required a trip to the emergency room and surgery to remove it. Lesson learned.

Ouch is right. I did that myself but it was from a flying piece. Always use a backer on the sandpaper.

I've done that just doing flat work with plywood. That stuff can be scary.

I hate cutting or stabbing my fingers. The pain on the first day isn't too bad, it is the next three nights where each time your heart beats it feels like you're getting stabbed all over again.
