Not exactly a shop yet
Jan 6th, 2013 at 12:26am

My "shop" is the basement. I have lots of shelving and stuff you can't see in the pics. I just bought this lathe 2 weeks ago. I've read all about the Central Machinery lathe. Hopefully someday I'll be able to upgrade. I just bought basic stuff to begin to learn.

Hi  John  Thats the start.  Now, are you hearing a slight whirring/sucking sound?  It's the vortex.  It gets louder and stronger.  It (edited out) you in and your lost.  The only way to survive ????   More tools.  More timber.     Enjoy the ride.   Cheesy

That'll do!  I just have a mini-lathe and a general purpose workbench at the back of the garage, with some shelves for gear.  Every time something flies off the lathe I have to check the new car for dings.

I'm not going to make any comments about Texans, but have you thought of taking the car out of the garage before you turn?  And is it your car or your wife's?

Taking the car out of the garage would be giving in.  And it's the wife's, obviously, since it's new.  The dad always drives the rattiest, least reliable car, doesn't he?

Great start. What do you mean "Not exactly a shop yet" it has a tool in it it's a shop.

At that point in my life when "Life time warranty" doesn't have much value.

Well that's great and everything, but we'll need to see a photo with some curlies here soon.  Smiley I look forward to seeing some projects!
