Just joined the forum. Here are a couple of shots of my workshop in the backwaters of Tasmania. Have included a picture of my big lathe,smaller lathe,thicknesser and planer.Also in the workshop is a big old bandsaw,ripsaw,shopsmith and various handtools. On the big lathe I turn round windows (segmented construction/ outboard turning). The 2 larger ones you can see on the floor behind the lathe are 1200mm/4ft dia. This lathe is capable of turning veritable logs between centers. I also enjoy making furniture and sculptures. I look forward to being a part of this forum.

Posts: 25 Kaoota Tasmania Australia	Re: Brads shop Reply #5 - Jan 25^th, 2013 at 4:55pm "is that sitting on its own footings" The workshop has a concrete slab that is way out of level,I think beacause it was originally designed as a carport enabling a car to be driven in and out.I wanted the bed of the lathe to be level so the tailstock end is bolted to a chunk of timber that in turn is bolted to the floor.

Hi Breck. The lathe was originally made "in house" at a foundry/engineering works in town. It was made for their patternshop.It's got 8 speeds with the slowest being particularly slow for large diameter outside faceplate work.4ft dia is the largest I have done so far but up to 8ft is possible.
There are bigger lathes out there...check out Robbo's link on one of the earlier replies.
