Finally I had some time to turn again. And is was very cold too in the shop...
I made  "snowy" the bowl made of Willow.
It has nice paterns in it, and gave it to a friend.

Nice bowl, and I like the color.  I wonder if its the same Willow we have in Texas.  Every trunk I have seen it looks very spongy.  Nice contrast photo in the snow!  Just answered my own question.  Netherlands willow is totally different.

Nice bowl and it's cold in my shop too. I had to fire up the wood stove last night to work on my finial for a lid and bowl I am working on.  What finish did you use on your bowl?

We use the twigs of our willows to make baskets and fences....
And most of the willows here standing near water or our small canals.....
We cut them every 2 years and thats why the get that big part at the top of the tree.

Nice looking wood.

It was cold in my shop this morning also. It was 68 degrees and I had to wear long pants and a long sleeve shirt until almost 9:00 AM. Then the inside temperature got up above 70 degrees.

Very nice bowl
I was out in my garage today.  therm on the wall said 18° when i got in there. teh small space heater and a bright halogen light warmed up my lathe area to a balmy 36° after about 4 hours.  Toes were frozen but the rest of me was good.
man do i ever have too look into better heating for next year

Nice bowl, I didn't know that the willow twigs were used for those baskets. smiley=thumbsup.gif 60 Years ago we came to Canada from Alphen a/d Rijn.

I have also family living in Canada..... many dutch people went to find a new home.
