The first picture is my newest jig.  It is a jig to accurately set segments for open segment turning.  I found it deep in the video section of this forum.  The second picture has a story.  My wife wanted to take an afternoon nap so that ment no powertools.  So a straighten up of the shop was the next best thing.  Then I saw a couple of these jigs/fixtures.  They had been lying around gathering dust for the last 25 years.  One is a jig to hold jointer knives to be honed, never used.  Another is a jig to draw down the center of a board, never used, there is a jig with magnets to hold/set jointer knives in the jointer, you guessed it, never used, and another is a jig to hold a skew at the proper angle to sharpen on the grinder.  I have now robbed them of the useable parts and thrown away the rest.  I have a LOT of jigs.  A quick count and it topped 40.  Most used only once or twice and now gathering dust.  I have jigs to make boxjoints, dovetails,Windsor chairs, and veneer, and that is just one shelf!!!  Do you suffer the same as I..  are you a jigaholic?

If you work with wood in any manner, you will be making jigs continuously. Jigs, slides, glides sleds, fixtures, hold-downs and stand-offs, you name it. Funny thing is, you need all that stuff just so you can make the next one.

i had to make a drilling jig for a doll crib round rails to fi many spindles, the pic is posted on this forum in a progress shot.

Note; the drilling jig ( above the pile of spindles) is just a plywood sled with V notch and then I added a clamp bar to hold the rounds. this and a story board made a snap to drill the matching spindle mounts on all the rounds.
I love simple jigs that work Smiley Smiley

We have to build lots of jigs because the jig manufacturers are falling down on their job.  Why can't they read my mind and see the obvious need?  There is a uni-jig out there, I just haven't found it yet.  Soooo....  Roll Eyes
